"Is it there yet?" - status on your transfer
Mark J. Kuczka   01/28/2009

PLEASE CHECK THIS PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US REGARDING THE STATUS OF YOUR TRANSFER!!!!

-- This page updated on 04/30/10 --

Form 3s received this week from dates ranging:
Form 4s received this week from dates ranging: 01/04/10 - 02/01/10

This page will be updated at the beginning of each week to show the range of dates on transfers we've received recently. This should give you an idea of maybe where your transfer is at in the timeline. PLEASE keep in mind that sometimes a transfer for one guy might come in a little faster than the transfer for another guy even though both went in at the same time. ;)

PSI is a small company dedicated to our customers. Rest assured, we make every effort to ensure your order is out the door and on its way to you (or your SOT) as quickly as possible. You will be contacted when your order is ready to pick up, or get a tracking email from USPS.com when your order is shipped.

Things that reduce our time available to take care of you, the customer:

"Is it there yet?"
If it is, we will contact you. We promise. ;)

"ATF says my transfer was approved. Is it there yet?"
If it is, we will contact you. Again, we promise.

Why does it take three weeks for a letter to get from WV to GA?
That's a good question! LOL. I don't know, but when it arrives we will contact you. The reality is that when an examiner tells you the form was approved and mailed it could still take several days to reach us.

"How can I check with ATF on my status?"
You can contact the ATF directly at 304-616-4500. You will need the serial number of the item in question. Please be polite and professional. They will only tell you if the item is "PENDING" or "APPROVED". Pending only means it is in the system and assigned an examiner. Approved means the examiner approved it and it is en route back to us. It may take several days to reach us.

The unfortunate reality is the NFA and custom weapon market involves waiting and patience. We do everything we can to minimize the wait, but some things are just not under our control. We also want the transaction completed as soon as possible. We don't want your item in our shop longer than it needs to be.

Help us help you: if you need something, or have a status question regarding your order, a detailed email with an informative subject line is the fastest way to get a quality answer.

The reason our voice mail boxes are often full and we are slow to respond to some e-mails is largely due to the incredibly high volume of requests for a status. For example, at this point Mark is spending an average of THREE hours a day answering "Is it there yet?" That is 15 HOURS a week someone's order is not being processed or a call isn't being returned. PLEASE, help us help you. Repeated calls and e-mail for status only makes the process (and progress) worse.

We greatly value your business and hope you understand we are trying hard to keep up with the high demand.

Thanks and hope to see you at the range! :-)

PS - Note, we are dealing with the ATF on a few Form 4 problems. The biggest problems that hold things up are people forgetting to include a copy of their Schedule A for Trust transfers. Remember to include those Schedule As! (5/26)
